In the meantime, in addition to the furniture pieces I have already shown, I decided to see if I can transform dollar store finds into Art Deco furniture.
Here is what I am working with:
The dollar store plastic furniture is next to the inspiration piece:
The circles below are from dollar store magnifying glasses:
Dollar store bangles:
Inexpensive wooden fan:
I also will be adding some lighting composed of acrylic birds, and silk butterflies:
These are the results so far:
A flying bird chandelier, upside down for now:
A butterfly ceiling light:
And a butterfly table lamp (I still need to add a base)
I found these Art Deco-ish chop sticks:
And thought I might try my hand on recreating this chair in miniature (if I have time):
Wishing you only good things, Neen
Wow, I just can't wait to see some of these transformations. I love the inspiration pictures. The bird chandelier is awesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharee, I was pleasantly surprised that the chandelier worked! I appreciate your comment.

Wow Neen, those lamps are fantastic! They look so pretty lit up!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cyd! I was experimenting with Party Dots, they are small, battery- LED lights, about the size of a nickel, and I am pleased how well they worked in the lamps.

that's truely awesome, Im shamed to bone because I didn't do a thing this weekend Rich got a new tablet for his birthday and everytime he figures out something new he comes to find me and shows me what he's found..then the little boy two houses down (he's a tween) comes down because Richard has Xbox in his mancave (converted garage that we never used) Im afraid to feed him because he'll never leave (at least thats what the women at work say) He's like the son I never had so now I'm down to two weeks and no lighting..Im so screwed
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a fun weekend, seriously! (I think it's stray cats who don't leave when you feed them, not Tweens, but I could be wrong :@))
DeleteYour room box looks almost done, and it looks great! If lighting is the only issue, why not get some battery, LED lights from Michaels? Cut a ping pong ball in half, put a magnet on the back of the light and on the ceiling, put the light up, and then use a little putty to keep the ping pong cover in place. Conny V. has a tutorial on her site (a fabulous site!): http://titanicinminiatuur.blogspot.com/2013/02/lampen-van-pingpong-ballen.html
I am one of those people that has never gotten the hang of wiring a dollhouse, so I am always looking for alternative solutions. Have fun!

I can't wait to see how you transform all those pieces. You're so creative.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christina, coming from such a creative person as you, that is high praise indeed!
